Dan,

Just picked this up from going through your posts on the Warrior Forum, lucky for me as I'm just about to sit down and understand how MNF works.

I shall be back!

Best wishes,

@Daniel Molano:

I checked few sites with first SERP position for their backlinks:

1. Position - Wikipedia (no comment)
2. Position - 3 x PR3, the rest PR2-0
3. Position - 4 x PR4, the rest PR2-0
.
.
10. Position - 1 x PR3, 2 x PR2, 1xPR1 and 10xPR0 A PDF document !!!

I agree with you that there are a lot of sites for this term but I think that none of them is "strong" (except Wiki).

By the way thank you for all information you share with us. Hope to learn a lot from you.

1,000 SoC is not the maximum, however, it is relatively high.

That does seem like an easy keyword to rank for, but we don't even know what types of backlinks those Top 10 have.

As you might already know, if those few hundred links have a few PR5+ links with a low outbound link count then they are extremely competitive.

Don't forget that a single PR7 backlink for example is stronger than 1,000 PR1 links.

What the SoC is telling us is that there are a lot of sites going for that term.

Although you're right, it's always good to cross check between multiple tools.

I agree that SOC is the most valuable part of MNF. But is it an exact measure of competition? If Google takes in account 200 parameters is it enough ifor you to trust only 3?

Searching for keywords with MNF I found this interesting one:

5000/10000 local/global search count.
1 million exact phrase count.
SOC Red - 1000 (I suppose this is the maximum)

Cross checking with MS I found that among first 10 Google sites are:

3 with PR2
3 sites with backlinks to their page - 100
1 page in PDF
Only 1 page with full on-site SEO

Is it possible that there are keywords where SOC just isn't so accurate ?

I have both and like them both. MS has excellent training but so does James. James also has some other fine products. Buy both and get the cross checking and venn diagram view by combining the best of both.

The one downside to MNF is that there is not a Mac version and can only run on a Mac if running Parallels. I had MNF and liked it, but when my PC died and I upgraded to my Mac, I had to find a replacement. MS does have a lot going on, but the training videos (MS specific and IM in general) they have are superior to what MNF offers.

Both are good, but your computer may end up having a say on which one to use.

I am using MNF for last few months and find the tool very impressive, I also liked the new feature of Domain Availability. I don't understand what MOB (measure of backlink) feature means!

Hey John,

It will work, but I strongly suggest you embark into SEO rather than PPC.
