Alternate Careers: Stay At Home Jobs
When you just start your career at a stay at home job, you might be so enraptured by the consequent perks you are getting that you might be completely enthused by all and every kind of assignment that might be given to you. The advantages of stay at home jobs are many. You will save a lot of time that you would otherwise spend on traveling, a lot of money that would go into fuelling your transport while also saving yourself from the high pollution levels on the busy streets. But as you would soon realize, stay at home jobs are not as easy as they look from outside.
One day suddenly you might find that your motivation to even get to your desk and get on with the work has deserted you. Given the nature of the job, it is a possibility. The reasons for your unwillingness to get down to business can be many. The job might be monotonous, you might be tired/sleepy/lazy, the task might be challenging or monstrous and you might be putting it off because you are not sure how and where to start, and its something that you haven’t done before and you lack enough self confidence to get started with it.
This might be the beginning of the long process of disenchantment with the whole stay at home job scenario. When you get over the initial ecstasy of not having to go to office and doing work at your own pace, you might start to see your home job as it is supposed to be seen: as a job.
Even with a fulltime job there are certain things that you simply love and some things that you absolutely cant deal with. So why should your stay at home job be any different. There are ups and downs to everything and while there are many advantages of working from home, there are certain things that are not as pleasant. For example, since there is no one to drive you to work, sometimes you might not get anything done at all. You might want to sit around and watch TV rather than working and you might end up not making deadlines and suffering losses.
People on stay at home jobs running into financial problems are not unheard of. Sometimes you might have finished your work on time or delivered the ordered services but you might not get the required payment.
Getting the collection money might become more tricky than you can imagine. People might delay payments indefinitely and some might treat you as regular contractors and not pay you at all. So besides being regular in your work, you also need to be prompt about payments and make follow-ups visits whenever necessary.
It is a fantastic opportunity and it is well worth it, just not the dream job of getting rich overnight as many sales pitches lead you to believe.
