There is nothing easy about being a Virtual Assistant (VA), and it is not the kind of work-from-home job you can start up in 24 hours.
A Virtual Assistant is a skilled, experienced, administrative professional who provides top-notch administrative, and sometimes, technical support to a small number of clients. In addition, VAs do this work in close collaboration with their clients. A VA is her client's peer, and not her subordinate.
Implying that anyone can be a VA just by hanging their shingle out on the world wide web is fallacy. VAs are made, not born, and they're made by climbing up through the ranks of the brick and mortar world of the clerical professions until they tire of being under-appreciated and under-paid and decide to strike out on their own.
Being a VA is not easy because so many people who know nothing about being a VA mis-educate our potential clientele by writing about how easy or quick it is to be a VA, and then they go further and tell us (VAs) what it is that we do.
Please, Mr. Molano, write about the things you have a better knowledge of; things such as article marketing, keyword research, e-mail marketing and search engine optimization. Leave writing about the VA profession to those of us who are VAs.

Well Donna, I couldn't agree with you more.
Personally, I look at my VAs as partners, not subordinates. I even end up doing Joint Ventures with them and all.
I'm not trying to imply that being a VA is easy or that it can be done overnight.
What I am doing is showing the community that there is a whole world of viable online business opportunities out there.
In short, it has a lot of potential.
