Tips For Finding A Reputable Work At Home Company

There are, as we all know, many different ways to earn money online, one of which is being part of a work at home company, typically a freelance site. In this case, you still "bid" on projects, however you have a manager that acts as a liason between you and the client. You may find that using a company like this gets you higher quality work faster, than the traditional freelance sites such as GetAFreelancer. But, you must be sure that you understand exactly what it is you're getting into and ensure that they are reputable.

But how do you figure out if a particular work at home company is reputable? There are several common sense things you can watch out for in this case.

First, do they ask for any payment upfront? Some sites promise access to a huge database of companies looking for people to work from home, but instead of giving you access, they seek to charge you a fee, either a high one-time or monthly subscription. A legitimate work at home company will never do this and you should never pay for a job!

Second, do they make their contact information easy to find on the website. This can be in tandem with the first item above. But, even if the work at home company doesn't charge a fee, if you can't get a hold of someone when you need them, you may find similar issues as you go. Always be sure you can contact your manager by email/MSN and especially make sure you can contact someone by phone. Communication is key.

Third, a reputable work at home company will have information about what they look for in a contract agent prominently displayed on their website. Most good companies are upfront about what they will and won't tolerate and the type of person they look to partner with. If the company you are considering gives blanket statements such as "anyone can do this!" run away. Not everyone is cut out for freelancing.

Fourth, once you're signed up, do they make it crystal clear exactly when you get paid and do they have the option of withholding some for taxes? A solid work at home company will have very detailed information regarding the method of payment they use (some use PayPal, others use a Debit card, etc.) as well as payment schedule (once a month, every two weeks).

Finding a solid work from at home company can seem to be a daunting affair. Certainly, you must keep your wits about you and always remember that if it sounds too good to be true, it usually is. That being said, if you keep in mind the points above, you will have no trouble finding the right company that compliments your skills.
